Just playing nicely, still not fired up the kiln yet so these are just modeled clay with no firing or glaze.
Muscles on muscles now with the kick wheel but with a better technique the job of throwing becomes easier!!!

First attempt!!
Ok, my first clay arrived yesterday but as my potter's wheel is out side the rain stopped play.
I built a few tools out of bamboo and plastic pipe and waited for a sunny day today, No chance, So I built a coiled pot( on the right) then a pinch pot (at the front). I tried out my cracking technique and started to get the feel of it. about 7.30 the rain was stopping so I ventured into the murky gloom and had my first go on a wheel.
My first 2 attempts went wobbly but the pot on the left was my 3rd go. And the cracks work.
Ok, they have to survive being fired then glazed but the idea is there. Quite pleased as no one has shown me how to throw a pot.
Cheers Chilli

This is where it starts!!!
Hi all,
thought you might like to follow my new adventure. I am based in Glossop Derbyshire England
I would like to make the blog interesting with carefully taken pictures of some of my plants, this entry however, is a random set of happy snaps of my bedroom attic full of my newly found hobby of succulents ( started about 3 months now) and my desire to make pots that suit the plants. Inspired by this potter I found, who collected succulents then made the pots to fit.
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=kitoi ... D10QsAQIJw
Hope you find my combination of the pottery and succulents interesting. It will be a long time in the making.
This is where I do my usual thing and run before I can crawl!!!
Ok , I have only had 3 pottery lessons so far, but heck, I have made a pot pig!! so obviously this weekend i spent about £1100 on a second hand kiln and a massive potters wheel, ironic as i will only be making small pots and the thing weighs in at over 16 stone!!! You can see by my car, the tyres nearly touched the rims!!
The new kiln and potters wheel.
Anyhow this is my bedroom with the plants I have obtained mainly in the last 3 months, I had a few other jungle plants up there and a huge oak branch strapped to my banister already but the succulents and the ceropegia are new. ( I hope to collect as many ceropegia as possible, I have obtained about 12 different types so far but would love to find more if you can help)
These are a few of my green friends I would like to make crack pots for.
Crack pots are kind of bonsai pots but more earthy and bark/dry clay looking. Similar but not quite accent pots. See the link to the potter above for the style I hope to achieve.
I also like taking close ups and more detailed shots of my plants.
First 3 shots of ceropegia stapeliiformis x cimiciodora
2 shots of sarcocaulon multifinum
the very bizarre ceropegia simoneae nova
and ceropegia simoneae ( no bumps)
the beautiful 3" Ceraria pygmae
Well, thats it so far, tomorrow I receive my first clay so lets see what happens next!!!
